Seattle

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA

sunny 19 °C

A FABULOUS/FASCINATING/FUN FACT ABOUT THIS PLACE:
Seattle is the birthplace of rock legend Jimi Hendrix and the alternative rock music style known as "grunge", which was made famous by local groups Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Seattle is also famous for its hip hop artists, such as rappers Sir Mix-a-Lot, Blue Scholars, and Macklemore.

The Space Needle, dating from the 1962 Century 21 Exposition, is Seattle's most recognizable landmark. It has been featured in the logo of the former Seattle SuperSonics NBA team, the Seattle Sounders MLS team, the television show Frasier and the backgrounds of the television series Dark Angel, Grey's Anatomy, The Killing and iCarly, and films such as It Happened at the World's Fair, Sleepless in Seattle, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Love Happens and The Parallax View. The Space Needle has also appeared in films such as The Simpsons Movie, Say Anything, 10 Things I Hate About You and Bloodsport.

Starbucks has been at Pike Place Market since the coffee company was founded there in 1971. The first store is still operating a block south of its original location

HOW EVER DID I GET HERE?
Greyhound from Vancouver. Boring ride.

WHERE DID I STAY?
At Will's place.

THE AGE OLD QUESTION: HOW WAS THE WEATHER?
Seattleish! Actually pretty nice. Sunny and warm enough.

WHAT DID I SEE HERE AND WHAT DID I DO?
Went to a Mariners game at Safeco Field! Ate pretty awesome Mexican food. Ate pretty awesome Mediterranean food. Drank lots and lots of coffee. Saw the original Starbucks coffee shop. Went hiking in some BEAUTIFUL mountains. Hung out with Will! Went laptop shopping.

ANY RESTAURANTS, SHOPS, HOSTELS, PEOPLE ETC WORTH MENTIONING?
Original Starbucks! Lots of other great restaurants. There are a lot of neat little shops and galleries here. I discovered Fry's. A HUGE electronic store that's really only on the west coast. They had more laptops in stock than all the store in Canada combined.

FAVORITE MEMORY FROM MY TIME HERE:
Mariners game. People-watching with Will. Hiking and snowball fighting in the mountains!! Awesome dinners out.

WOULD I EVER COME BACK HERE IF I HAD THE CHANCE OR WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO A FRIEND OR FELLOW TRAVELER? :)
I would definitely come back. Mostly to see Will again.
And I would definitely recommend it. It`s a pretty cool city to visit.
