Nanaimo

NANAIMO, VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA,

sunny 20 °C

A FABULOUS/FASCINATING/FUN FACT ABOUT THIS PLACE:
The Nanaimo bar which is a no-bake cookie bar, is a Canadian dessert named after Nanaimo.

HOW EVER DID I GET HERE?
I took the "bus" from Victoria.... The "bus" turned out to be some old man in a cowboy hat driving a 15 passenger van.....

WHERE DID I STAY?
Painted Turtle Guesthouse

THE AGE OLD QUESTION: HOW WAS THE WEATHER?
Sunny and slightly chilly.

WHAT DID I SEE HERE AND WHAT DID I DO?
Not much. Walked along the waterfront a LOT. Laid in the sun.

ANY RESTAURANTS, SHOPS, HOSTELS, PEOPLE ETC WORTH MENTIONING?
Not so much.

FAVORITE MEMORY FROM MY TIME HERE:
Leaving on a float plane. Another item off the bucket list.

WOULD I EVER COME BACK HERE IF I HAD THE CHANCE OR WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO A FRIEND OR FELLOW TRAVELER? :)
I would pass through on my way somewhere else but this wouldn't be a final destination for me. It was a much much smaller place than I had thought it would be.

NOTABLE NOTES:
I needed to get to Vancouver to get my bus to Seattle and after spending too much time trying to figure out ferry times that coincide with bus times that would get me into the city and to a skytrain station in time to get to the greyhound station for my 11am bus - I decided to splurge and just take a float plane with Harbour Air. It was more expensive of course. But it was much more convenient and I had always wanted to go in a float plane. So I just went for it, It was pretty sweet and sooooo much faster than the ferry/bus/skytrain combo.
