BACK IN CANADA!

VICTORIA, VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

sunny 20 °C

A FABULOUS/FASCINATING/FUN FACT ABOUT THIS PLACE:

Capital city of British Columbia!

Steve Nash, twice Most Valuable Player in the National Basketball Association, grew up in Victoria. Michael Saunders, outfielder for the Seattle Mariners was born in Victoria and still lives there during the off season. Baseball pitcher Rich Harden of the Oakland Athletics is from Victoria. Professional racing cyclist and 2012 Giro d'Italia winner, Ryder Hesjedal was born in Victoria and still calls the city home. Maddie Secco was born in Victoria and is currently a part of the women's national field hockey who just recently went to India for the Olympic Trials. Olympic Games athletes Riley Mccormick, Silken Laumann, Ryan Cochrane, and Simon Whitfield reside or were born in Victoria.

The Victoria Cougars are perhaps the most famous sports franchise the city has known, winning the Stanley Cup as members of the PCHA in 1925. The team then moved to Detroit under the name of the Detroit Cougars before the team changed its name to the current Detroit Red Wings of the NHL.

HOW EVER DID I GET HERE?
Flight from Kona to Honolulu to LAX to San Francisco to Victoria.
Wasn't sure how smoothly that transition was going to be because there had been a crash-landing in San Fran that morning. But i turned out to be all good. I was very surprised by how small Victoria Airport was. Let's just say it made clearing customs a breeze!

WHERE DID I STAY?
Ocean Island Inn.

THE AGE OLD QUESTION: HOW WAS THE WEATHER?
Quite good. A little chilly compared to Hawaii - but that's to be expected.

WHAT DID I SEE HERE AND WHAT DID I DO?
I saw orca! In the wild. Cross that off the ol' bucket list... :) It was pretty awesome.

ANY RESTAURANTS, SHOPS, HOSTELS, PEOPLE ETC WORTH MENTIONING?
Tim Hortons! Ahhh How I've missed consistent coffee!!!

FAVORITE MEMORY FROM MY TIME HERE:
Definitely the whale watching trip!

WOULD I EVER COME BACK HERE IF I HAD THE CHANCE OR WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO A FRIEND OR FELLOW TRAVELER? :)
I would definitely come back if I was nearby. It's a very pretty and clean city.
